Reading Church Record for 31 October 1835: Breathern and
Sisters met for covenant meeting, opened meeting by singing and
prayer-proceded to business-voted to call a council for
examination of Breathern Sheldon N. and William S. Smith and if
thought proper to ordain-council to convene the first Wendsday in
November. The case of John Estlick was called up=the church voted
to with draw the hand of fellowship from him-voted to give
converts the privilage of voting in receiving other converts
after they have been received by the Church-Heard the experiances
of the following persons-voted to receive them when Baptised:

All was Baptised the following day on Sabbath 1st November
1835 in Seneca Lake.
1 November 1835 Sabbath day the Brethren and Sisters that
were received 31st October, were Baptised by Elder T.S. Sheardown
in the Seneca Lake. Twenty-four (24) in number.

Friday 12 October 1838: Church met per adjournment for
special business-opened by prayer-Appointed Elmer Keeler Church
Clerk-boted the clerk record the votes taken 10 March 1838 which
were not then recorded and which votes were as follows:-voted to
invite visiting Brothers and Sisters to a seat with us-voted to
send brother D. Hurley after the church records-voted to rescind
the votes taken 13th January last respecting the release of Elder
Sheardown as Pastor and the trustees getting a supply for the desk.
voted to withdraw the hand of fellowship from Sister Mahala Crout
for neglect of church privilage and her disorderly walk.-voted to
exonerate Brother B. Drake from his difficulty with Sister Robbins-
his explanations being satisfactory-voted Brother Edwin Drake be
exonerated from the charge against himb by S.B. Robbins having made
a satisfactory confession--resolved the church are grieved with
Brother Reuben Lafever for taking a seat at the communion table
under the censure of the church.-the church voted they beleive
Brother Lafever guilty of the charges brought against him by
Brother Skiff-voted Brother E. Peck and R. Hammond a committy to
request Brother Lafever to come before the church on the last
Saturday of October to give satisfaction to the church in respect to
charges brought against him by Brother Skiff or the hand of
fellowship will be withdrawn-voted to adjourn to the last Saturday
in November next.

From information obtained by Irene Crout Johnson, Mahala's death date is January 14, 1885 and she is supposed to be buried in Canton, Pennsylvania. Though in her will she requested to be buried in Beaver Dam, New York. We have not found any records of where she is buried.
